Kirkcudbright
Kirkcudbright History Society
Kirkcudbright History Society was established in 2001 with the aim of promoting and encouraging interest in the history of the town of Kirkcudbright and its immediate environs, and more generally in the former county of the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright (Kirkcudbrightshire).
The Society meets monthly from October to March to hear a guest lecturer.
Meetings are held in Kirkcudbright Parish Church Hall, St. Mary St., Kirkcudbright on the second Wednesday of the month, starting at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
There’s also plenty local history and interesting old photos on their website to browse through: http://www.kirkcudbrighthistorysociety.org.uk

Pauline Lawton Art
Colour, textiles, distressed patterns and shapes are what excites me and my paintings are contemporary interpretations of the landscape and coastline surrounding my recent move to Kirkcudbright, as well as my journeys in Europe and Morocco. Images and sketchbooks emerge as I search for information/ideas that will remind me of something more than a representational inspiration. I work in acrylics and mixed media, with textured surfaces and strong colours to achieve the effect I seek. See website for more details
Heather M Nisbet Art
Heather produces contemporary oil and acrylic paintings, in vibrant colour, from her studio in Kirkcudbright and exhibits in Kirkcudbright and elsewhere in Scotland. Although she is largely self taught, Heather also attended the continuing education classes at Glasgow School of Art. See website: www.heathermnisbet.com
Margaret S Milligan
I am an oil and pastel painter. I love still life, portraits and life drawing is a passion. I work and teach in the beautiful “Artist’s Town” of Kirkcudbright in Galloway, Scotland.
Like most artists I am attracted to the play of light. I work in Winsor and Newton Artisan, water mix able oils to avoid as many nasty chemicals as possible.

Orroland Holiday Cottages
Just nine miles east of Kirkcudbright, tucked between hill and shore on the coastal road from Auchencairn, Orroland Holiday Cottages sit within a private 500-acre estate overlooking the Solway Firth. Three luxury, dog-friendly cottages offer woodland walks, a secluded rocky shoreline, enclosed gardens and fireside comfort – a peaceful coastal retreat for 2-8 people, where sea air, space and quirky landscaped scenery surround you.
Here, children (and grown-ups) can lose themselves in their own Famous Five-type adventure stories – building dens, scrambling over rocks, exploring hidden paths – that spirit of freedom and imagination is warmly welcomed at Orroland.
