Here you will find lots to do in our area. We list all kinds of events and activities, exhibitions, workshops and attractions and we are sure you will find something to suit everyone. The list isn’t exhaustive. It doesn’t detail all the things that are here all the time – the colourful streets, the attractive shops, the harbour, the beaches and the beautiful countryside around us they are all here waiting to be explored.

Kirkcudbright Scottish Night @ Harbour Square Car Park

pipe-bandHeld in the Harbour Square, a natural arena in the middle of town, the night features a mixture of traditional Scottish Pipe music from our award winning Kirkcudbright and District Pipe Band supported by the Stewartry Area Wind Band and Galloway Pipers, Scottish Country Dancers, Highland Dancers and other traditional entertainment including the World Famous UNBEATEN Kirkcudbright Tug o’ War Team.

The night starts at 19:00 with a special guest act who will add colour to our event and entertain the crowds to a variety of different cultural experiences.

Maggie’s Tour of Old Kirkcudbright @ Leave High Street, Selkirk Arms Hotel

Come along and be entertained by the players, arrested by the guard, perplexed by scientists, or even propositioned by a lady of ill repute. Listen in terror to the minister’s role in the witch trials. Prepare to be shocked, entertained, and to learn about the hard life the people of Kirkcudbright led 350 years ago.

The world comes to Kirkcudbright each August when our town puts on its most spectacular of shows, with a stunning explosion of creative performances culminating in a lone piper serenading the gathered crowd before the sky bursts into a shimmering firework display.  Add in the assembled local pipe bands, country dancers, and much more and you have a performance to stir all the senses and emotions. 2017 Kirkcudbright Classic Car Rally @ Harbour Square Car Park

Kirkcudbright’s streets are lined with the beautifully sleek contours of 150 classic cars and bikes in this spectacular celebration of motoring. You’ll find classic and vintage cars squeezed into every
nook and cranny of the town centre, with stalls, entertainment and refreshments making this open display an unmissable experience. The display is followed by a scenic classic car run.

Garden Open 3 Millhall @ 3 Millhall

Recently shown on The Beechgrove Garden and featured in Dumfries & Galloway Life the impressive five-acre garden has a large collection of mature shrubs and perennials.  Plants include rhododendron species, many camellias, perennials, hydrangeas and rare Southern Hemisphere plants. The garden follows the rocky shore of the Dee Estuary in Kirkcudbright Bay, close to the beach at the Dhoon and three miles from Kirkcudbright.

With over 300 unusual hydrangeas the display is spectacular at this time of year as are the large eucryphias and the expansive herbaceous border.

Come and see a garden described by George Anderson of the Beechgrove as one of the best he has ever seen. Bring a picnic or try the newly available tea, coffee and homemade cakes.

Toilets and Parking at the Dhoon and signposted from there. 5-minute walk from Dhoone or free taxi.
